QUESTION
PROBLEMATIZADORA.
That causes global
warming and what we can do to prevent this from moving forward?
THEORETICAL
FRAMEWORK
Global
warming
It is the continuous increase in the average
temperature of the earth is a phenomenon that occurs when too many greenhouse
gases in the atmosphere.
The greenhouse effect is a process that occurs when
certain gases accumulate in the atmosphere of the earth does retain heat. These
gases let in light but keep the heat like the glass walls of a greenhouse.
The increase in global temperatures cause changes in
weather patterns, so some places may experience drought while others are
flooded, cold places become warmer and hot spots become more fresh.
CAUSES
-Use of fossil fuels (coal and oil) as energy sources
in industry and transport.
-Excess forest fires, caused by the human hand,
contribute in accelerating the process of global warming.
-The burning of fossil fuels, coal, oil and gas, and
the destruction of forests have become the main causes of the emission into the
atmosphere of carbon dioxide (CO2), the most dangerous in the generation of
greenhouse gas.
-Decomposing garbage.
CONSEQUENCES
-Rising sea levels.
-Changes in ecosystems.
-Alteration in the production cycle of food.
-Modification of the hydrological cycle.
-Extinction of animal and plant species.
-Temperature rise.
-Modification of the reproductive cycles of animals
and plant species.
-Land desertification.
-Tropical and warm temperate seas.
-Intensification of climatic phenomena (hurricanes,
storms).
-Population increase of respiratory diseases and skin.
-Melting glaciers.
-Increased flooding.
-Reduction of drinking water.
POSSIBLE
SOLUTIONS
To solve global warming, man must stop burning fossil
fuels and start using solar, wind and other renewable energy sources.
-Changing traditional light bulbs with compact
fluorescent lamps (CFL). CFLs consume 60% less electricity than a traditional
bulb, making this simple change will reduce the emission of 140 kilos of carbon
dioxide a year.
- Set the thermostat two degrees lower in winter and
two degrees in summer. Adjusting the heating and air conditioning could save
about 900 kilos of carbon dioxide a year.
- Use less hot water. You can use less hot water by
installing a shower-phone low pressure and washing clothes in cold or lukewarm
water.
- Use a hanger instead of the clothes dryer. If
clothes outdoor dries half of the year, 320 kilos reduces the emission of
carbon dioxide a year.
- Buy recycled paper products. The production of
recycled paper consumes between 70% and 90% less energy and prevents further
global deforestation.
- Buy fresh foods. Produce frozen food consumes 10
times more energy.
- Buy organic food. Organic crops absorb and store
much more carbon dioxide than crops "conventional" farms.
- Avoid buying products that come in heavy containers.
If reduced by 10% personal garbage can save 540 kilos of carbon dioxide a year.
- Recycle, you can save up to 1,000 kilos of waste a
year by recycling half of the waste of a family.
- Choose a smaller car consumption. When buying a new
car can save 1,360 kilos of carbon dioxide a year if it pays two kilometers per
liter of gasoline more than the other. It is preferable to buy a hybrid or
biofuel car.
- Less driving. Prefer to walk, bike, carpool and use
public transport. Reducing car use at 15 km per week prevents deliver 230 kilos
of carbon dioxide a year.
- Check your tires weekly. Properly inflated tires
improve fuel consumption rate by more than 3%. Each liter of gasoline saved avoids
the emission of three kilos of carbon dioxide.

GLOBAL WARMING
The global heat is a problem that we are living every day and if we don't take conscience about it, the world will be a chaos in the future.
The temperature of our planet is rising because of the contamination of the sea, the air and the ground.
The global heat consist in the rise of the planet's temperature due to the increase of the concentrations of the (efecto invernadero) gases, such as carbon dioxide, metane, among others.
The high temperature woul'd cause drough and this would lead to forestal fires. Another consecuences includes natural disasters and diseases.
The global heat has a important impact in the enviroment and the habitats o many species are being affected. In the last years many species dissapeared and many others are in danger of extinction.
The meltdown of the glaciers is causing floods in several zones of the planet affecting the life of many people.
The main cause of the global heat is the contamination produced by humams. It begun to increase in the 19th century with the Industrual Revolution. The cars and the factories produce toxic gases and the presence of these gases in the atmosphere are destroying the ozone layer and the solar radiation is affecting the health of the people.
There are many things that we can do to reduce the production of CO2. Some of them are: do not use hot water, buy products made of recicled paper, change regular bulbs for fluorescent bulbs, use the bus or the bycicle instead of the particular cars, etc...
We have to understand that global heat is a huge problem and affects the whole world. If we don't change our habits and the way we treat the Earth in the next years, we won't be able to live in it and that will be the end of the human race.
